4.3 Design Considerations for Availability and Data Protection
Resources and data must be available for use by the tenant. High availability means that resources such as network bandwidth, memory, CPU, or data storage are always online and available to users when needed. Redundant systems, configurations, and architecture can minimize or eliminate points of failure that adversely affect availability to the tenant.
Data protection is a key ingredient in a resilient architecture. Cloud computing imposes a resource tradeoff between high performance, and the requirements of increasingly robust security and data classification are an essential tool for balancing that equation. End customers need to know what data is important and where it is located as a prerequisite to making performance cost-benefit decisions, as well as maintaining focus on the most critical areas for data loss prevention procedures.
