Information Technology (IT) is undergoing tremendous change. Traditional desktop and laptop platforms are being replaced by modern mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones. Business users expect services to be easily accessible on demand on mobile platforms. Internal IT organizations are seeing growing competition from external service providers. Shadow IT (IT solutions built and used inside organizations without official approval) continues to grow as business needs are not serviced internally. Business expects IT to deliver services that do the job well for a fair price today, not six months from now. It is necessary to rethink, reshape, and re-imagine the function of IT and its relationship to business.
