Snapshots can be used for version control. They enable a consumer to easily and with minimal risk perform in-place upgrades. This is an excellent use case for snapshots when a vCloud environment is used for development. Developers can make critical changes to the virtual machine, safe in the knowledge that if a failure occurs, they can simply roll back to the previous version (state).
